This just breaks my heart. Nick was a fine young man with so much potential. Nick and my daughter went all through school together so in a way I watched Nick grow up.
My heart felt sympathy goes out to Nick's family in their tragic loss.

I am stunned and heartbroken. I taught Nick in 6th grade and announced many a basketball and football game for his teams. He was a very fine young man and always showed the best of sportsmanship. Nick will always be remembered, and I am proud of his service to our great country. My heart goes out to his family and to the whole community of Rochester. May God comfort you in your time of loss.

classmate of Nick's I am at a loss for words. I graduated with Nick. You hear about all the lives lost, but never think that it will hit soo close to home. Nick was a very wonderful person to be around and will be greatly missed by all. A very sad day for many. My sympathy to the family.

Rochester For the last 5 or 6 years the war in Iraq has kinda become commonplace, at least for me. Every time I turn on the TV or read the newspaper there is always something in it about the war. I guess until this happened, the war didnt really seem real to me, and now its all too real. Words cant express what a great loss this is. I grew up with Nick and played basketball with him since I can remember. The phone call I got on Monday night was probably the worst one I have ever gotten. My heart goes out to his whole family.

I'm still in shock that Nick had passed away. I'm proud of him, though, that he died for our country. He was a great guy who will be missed by many. I will be praying for Nick's family. I know words can't describe just what they are going through right now.

USI alumni I went to school with Nick at the University of Southern Indiana where he became one of my closest friends. He is the epitamy of the American Hero and will forever stay that way to all of us. He was one of the best people you could ever met and I consider myself lucky because of that. I will continue to keep his family and close friends in my thoughts and prayers.
