1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade C I first met Nick about 3 years ago when we were in 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment together and then C Troop 1st Squadron, 73rd CAV. Nick could always be counted on to pick you up and make you smile. His concern for his soldiers and friends will be missed by all. Nick, I will miss you very much.

 just want to send my condolencies to the family of sgt patterson. i retired from the army at ft bragg served in the 82nd rode many times in those 5 ton trucks i have visited rochester back in 2001. just wanted to say you're in my prayers.

am really going to miss you nick.. All the times that you stayed up with me at the house and just talked forever. You were a great dad to reilley and I will always let him know that. You were a great husband to my sister. you were the one that loved her for who she is no matter how bad you and her were argueing..
I wanted you to see Emma soo bad and you were excited for it....But now you will be able to watch over her all the time. Just like you will with Reilley, Jayme and the rest of the gang. I love you Nick. I hate that you are gone from us. I will be strong for you and for Jayme. I promise that to you. And I will help reilley with baseball and basketball..the two sports that you wanted him to play!

Nick, it's hard to believe it was just back in April we were talking over at Los Compadres. I remember the last thing I told you was to let everyone know how thankful we were for what you and everyone else serving our country were doing, and to come home safe. I didn't realize that would be the last time I'd talk to you... I'll always remember you as the guy who never looked at me as the younger guy on the basketball team, the guy who was always smiling, always worked hard, always loved his family, and always wanted to talk like we'd just seen each other yesterday. Sorry you didn't get to go on that fishing trip, man... but I'm sure much higher glory awaits you. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I know that I will never forget it. More importantly, I know I'll never forget YOU. Rest in peace, Nick.
