A 19-year-old Marine from Gillette, Wyoming was killed Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Afghanistan in what is being described as a hostile casualty.
Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Ross’ remains were expected to arrive at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware at 2:45 p.m. Friday.
It’s unclear when Ross’ casket will arrive in Gillette, said Pete Quinnell of the Wyoming Veterans Commission. He said it typically takes four to six days.
Ross graduated from Campbell County High School in 2008. He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Karen Ross, both of Gillette, and his wife, Brittney Oliver Ross, of Logansport,Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette.
