Spc. Matthew C. Frantz died in Al Huwijah, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol operations. He was assigned to the 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He died on January 20, 2006.
