Shirley Joan Plant
January 25, 1936 - February 19, 2012
Shirley Joan Plant, 76 years old of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012 in the Arnett Hospital.
She was born January 25, 1936 in Moran, Indiana to the late George and Iora Frances (Gerhart) Reynolds. Shirley graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School in 1953.
On February 26, 1954, she married Howard Plant at the Wayside Chapel near Otterbein. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1995.
Shirley had worked in the housekeeping department of Howard Johnson for 15 years before retiring. She had previously worked for Central Lab.
She was involved in the Hanna Community Center. Shirley enjoyed bowling, exercising, and watching her kids and grandkids sporting events.
Surviving is her daughter, Terri McKinney (husband: Craig) of Lafayette; her son, Jody Plant (wife: Sally Briggs) of Colorado Springs, CO; her brother, Ben Reynolds (wife: Linda) of Pueblo, CO; and her sisters, Pat Cooper of Vincennes and Elinor Nelson of Dover, IL. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Plant.
Funeral Information
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 3 p.m. at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard McQuinn officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m.
