Raymond W. Burrough

Raymond W. Burrough, 95, Arlington, Texas, formerly of Logansport, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2012, in Texas.

Born July 25, 1914, in Lucerne, IN, he was the son of Fred and Louise Burrough. His parents had immigrated from England to the United States. He spent two years at Purdue, then left to join the Army Air Corps, the Flying Cadets. He then attended navigation school. In April of 1942, he flew a mission with the 22nd Bomber Group the day after Doolittle's raid over Japan. Ray flew in the 8-45 and later in the B-52. Ray retired from the Air Force in 1964. He then bought a brokerage firm in El Paso. Ray retired once again, and lived in Arlington. There, he still enjoyed reliving his World War II stories with family and friends. He also was able to make a trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Ray continued to enjoy the stock market, even though he was 97 years old.

He is survived by sons, W. Steve Burrough and wife Pam, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Mark Burrough and wife Dana, of Bel Air, Maryland, and David Burrough and wife Kay, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Beth Maxwell, of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Adam Maxwell and Lisa Snow, Steve and David Burrough, Mason, Grant and Alana Burrough, Katie Marrs and Emily Polinski; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Lucerne and Elkhart, Indiana.

Funeral Information

Services will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012, in Arlington Funeral Home in Texas. Graveside services, with full military rites, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, in Mount Hope Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Local services are pending and tenatatively set for Saturday. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Fisher Funeral Chapel is handling local arrangements.
