Passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2017 at 5:37PM at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Born December 31, 1956, known to many as "Annie, Betty, and Betty-Ann"
She served in the Air Force for 7 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before retirement. Among her accommodations she received: AF Training Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Ribbon, AF Good Conduct Metal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Commendation Metal, AF Overseas Ribbon, and AF Humanitarian Service Metal.
She was very proud to be a legacy in her family's history of decorated military heroes, Her father and brothers were in the US Air Force as well, and boasted of the accomplishments of her son Sergeant Sean Leger of the US Marine Corps.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, cross-stitching, crocheting.
For more than 30 years she was a nurse, taking care of people was her passion. She was a DON at numerous facilities, and before retiring she worked in Hospice and Palliative Care. Helping people was her life's work, she was a hero, she even helped complete strangers out of a ditch after an accident.
Surviving is her beloved Robert Antino Samples(Lafayette,IN), Son: SSrgt Sean Leger (Brenna)of NC, Twin Daughters: Patricia Taylor(Emily Kubisz) of Lafayette,IN, Amanda Dunbar (Ryan) of West Lafayette,IN , Brothers Phillip Kennedy (Sherry) of VA, Timothy Kennedy(Gaby) of OH. Grandchildren: Andrew & Aizza Leger, Emberleigh, Logan & Stryder Snay, Dustin Cornwell. Nephew: Kenneth Kennedy(Kym) of VA, Neice: Jessica Knight(Justin) of VA, and 4 great neices and 1 nephew. Also surviving many that she called family, Diana Samples(mom), Jeremiah Samples(son), Alexander Samples(son), & Theodore Samples(son), Ofelia Kubisz(granddaughter) & Magnus Kubisz(grandson)
Proceeding her in death both of her parents Harold and Lulubelle Kennedy, a son Timothy Davis, and a granddaughter Layla Diane Leger.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Fisher Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial, with full military honors will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
