Vernon Leon Ingram

Vernon Leon Ingram, 82, of West Lafayette passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 in his home.
On November 27, 1929, he was born in Rainsville, IN to the late Elmer and Susie (Neal) Ingram.
Vernon graduated from Klondike High School in 1947. From 1950 to 1954, Vernon served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He received 2 Bronze Stars for his service to his country.
On February 12, 1956, he married Maxine Graves in Lafayette and she survives.
Vernon worked for the USPS as a letter carrier after his military service until his retirement in 1984.
He was an honorary fraternity member of Sigma Kappa PI, a member of VFW Post 11 and a Civil War Book Club. Vernon was an artist who loved to paint and enjoyed collecting hand blown bottles.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Maxine; a daughter, Georgeanne Hardesty (husband: the late Michael J.) of West Lafayette; a son, Andrew Porter Ingram (wife: Kathy) of Angleton, TX; a sister, Bernice Robinson (husband: William) of Lafayette, and a brother, James Ingram of Portage, IN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Michelle, Jeremy, Carmen, Dorris, Jonathan, and Nicholas and great grandchildren, Jimmy, Sean, Chandler, Justin, Kayla, Jasmyne, Thomas, Draven, Pierce, Willow, Colt, Violet, and Houston.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20 at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 11 in loving memory of Vernon. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
