John W. Reeves, 75, of Lafayette died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his residence.
He was born November 4, 1934, in Grand Chain, Illinois. On September 29, 1962, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, he was married to Doris I. Greenlee Reeves, who preceded him in death Sept. 25, 2000.
In 1951, he graduated from Grand Chain Community High School. After high school, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was currently employed as a van driver for PTI the past several years and had worked for the New York Central Railroad Station for twenty-five years.
John was a member of the First Christian Church in Grand Chain. Along with his wife, they were founding members of the IPMS (International Plastics Modeling Society)Local Chapter, Souders-Earhart. He enjoyed reading, building models, fixing things and helping people.
He is survived by one daughter Mary R. (Bruce) Conner, of Lafayette; four sisters, "Betty Jo" Davenport, San Antonio, TX, Mary Jones, Grand Chain, IL, Ruth Anne Brunson, Morehead, KY, and Margaret Smelcer, Arkdale, WI; three grandchildren, Mike, Alyssa and Tara; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Morris, of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Spring Vale Cemetery.
Friends may call from from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
