Ruby Fry Basham Henry, 88 of Logansport, passed away at 11:32 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 in Woodbridge Health Campus. Born September 12, 1921 in Cass County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Joseph and Maye Cree Fry. On June 15, 1941, in Cass County, she married Clarence "Cy" Basham who preceded her in death December 10, 1972. On May 19, 1973, in Cass County, she married Mahlon Henry. He preceded her in death October 19, 2007. A 1939 graduate of New Waverly High School, Ruby had lived in Cass and Miami counties her entire life. She and her husband, Cy, lived in Lucerne over twenty years. After her marriage to Mahlon, she moved to Peru. For over twenty years, she and Mahlon wintered in Mission, Texas. Ruby was retired from R.B.M. She was a member of the Walton Christian Church. Ruby enjoyed reading, quilting and other crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, having visited all fifty states and all the provinces of Canada. Surviving are her children, Patricia Carter, of Greenfield, Charles Basham (wife Michaleen), of Chardon, Ohio, Richard Basham (wife Benita), of Culver, and Nancy Curry (husband Larry), of Logansport; two step-children, Phillip Henry (wife Lana), of Galveston, and Linda Houser (husband Doug), of Merkel, Texas; nine grandchildren, Gregory Carter, Michael Carter and his fiancee' Korinne Christian, Catherine Colgan and her husband Steven, Rebecca Basham and her husband Peter Barlow, Matthew Basham and fiancee Shannon, Dawn Basham, Mark Basham, Alan Curry, and Amanda Garrett and her husband Adam; step-grandchildren, William Curry and his wife Karla, Tricia Henry, Brian Henry and his wife Lynn, Jeff McConn and his wife Jennifer, Stephanie Pratt and her husband Jaime, Shawn Johnson and his wife Paige, Kara Hambrick and her husband Larry, and Amber McConn;one brother, Homer Fry and his wife Rosetta, of North Manchester; brother-in-law, Donal Doty and his wife Loretta, of Monticello; sisters-in-law, Margaret Fry, of Florida, and Janet Fry, of Peru; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews as well as longtime friends Raymond and Violet Kaufman. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Arthur, Carl, Raymond, Harold and Floyd Fry; sisters, Ruth Henry and Edith Doty; son-in-law, Thomas Carter; and great-grandsons, Alex and Travis Colgan. Funeral InformationFriends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Cree officiating. Entombment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass County.
