Michael Robert Hobbs
September 21, 1966 - February 20, 2010
Michael Robert Hobbs, 43, of Lucerne, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 following injuries sustained in an accident north of Galveston.
Born Sept. 21, 1966, in Anaheim, CA, he was the son of William T. and Martha Cunningham Hobbs. His mother survives in Oaktown, Indiana.
On May 20, 1989, in the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport, he was married to Laura Patton, who survives.
A 1985 graduate of North Knox High School in Bicknell, Indiana, Michael served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years and had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College where he received his degree as a master electrician.
For over 15 years, Michael worked at Haynes International in Kokomo as an electrician.
Building bird houses was his specialty. He was an artist and enjoyed making things. His hobbies included fishing and sports, especially NASCAR. He was very loving and enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He was a terrific father and loved his kids so much. Whatever activity they were in became his passion. He loved watching his daughter play volleyball and his son play basketball at Pioneer.
Surviving with his wife and mother are his son, Michael James Hobbs, a junior at Pioneer H.S.; his daughter, Katelyn Louise, a 5th grader at Pioneer Elementary School; one brother, William P. (Nikki) Hobbs, Oaktown, IN; one sister, Karen (Peter) Beisler, Sarasota, FL; brothers-in-law, Steven (Brenda) Hall, Greentown, IN, and Alan (Kaddy) Hall, Melbourne, FL; sisters-in-law, Linda Rinehart, Logansport, and Becky (David) Jackson, Lucerne; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His father and an infant brother, Thomas Myles Hobbs, preceded in death.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kevin Drane officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, from 2 to 8 p.m. in Fisher Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
Burial, with full military rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Donations Information
Expressions of sympathy may be made with a memorial contribution to the Hobbs Children Education Fund at Community State Bank, Royal Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
