Obituary for Donald Eugene Hyman

Donald E. Hyman 87, of Logansport, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in Chase Center.

Born December 27, 1930, in Logansport, he was the son of the late John Ellis and Anna (Subert) Hyman .

On June 14, 1977, in Logansport, he was married to Evadene Idella Hyman, who preceded him in death July 26, 1995.

Don was a graduate of Logansport High School. He went on to further his education at DeVry Technical Institute. He worked as an electrical engineer.

A Veteran of the United States Army, Don proudly served his country during the Korean War. He continued to serve his country as a member of the Cass County Honor Guard officiating at many military rites over the years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 60,

Don was a longtime member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He loved music and was a member of the Logansport Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Don made friends very easily with his warm sense of humor and that smile. He had friends from all over the world in his various associations which included the Cass County Amateur Radio Club. Don was also a member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge No. 33.

Surviving are one son, Eric E. Hyman; one stepson, James "Jim" (Debbie) Harkin; two step-daughters, Kristi Jill Forshee and Cheryl Jane Herrell; one grandchild; six step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John J. Hyman; two sons-in-law, Anthony Forshee and Ricky Herrell; and one grandson, Ronald Lee Justice.

A funeral service celebrating Don's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 24 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Walton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 23 in the funeral chapel where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
