Obituary for James "Jim" Albregts

James "Jim" Albregts, 76, of Lafayette, passed away on February 18, 2018.

He was born August 9, 1941 in Lafayette, the son of the late Joseph B. and Louise (Snouwaert) Albregts. Jim was raised in Tippecanoe County, Jackson Township, and graduated in 1959 from Southwestern High School.

Jim enjoyed working on the family farm and working at Purdue University where he retired after 42 years in 2007. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and served as the Head Usher for over 8 years. In addition, Jim was a member of the Wabash Runners Club. He enjoyed bike riding to work and around the countryside, swimming at the Aquatic Center, and running. Jim ran in many races as well as competed in a marathon and a triathlon.

Surviving are his brothers, Richard (Cecelia) Albregts of Racine, WI and William Albregts of Lafayette; his sisters, Kathryn Riehle of Lafayette and Irene Woodruff of Odon, IN; and sister-in-laws, Betty (Chet) Albregts of Lafayette, Leah (Francis) Albregts of West Lafayette, Lillis (Earl) Albregts of Florida, and Sharon (Joseph) Albregts of Lafayette. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Brown and brothers, Earl, Francis, Chester, Cecil, and Joseph Albregts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Mark Walter officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church in loving memory of Jim.
