Obituary for John Henry Andrews

John Henry Andrews, 72, of Logansport, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, January 11, 2017 in Chase Center.
Born May 14, 1945, in Logansport, he was the son of the late John T. and Dorotha M. (Caldwell) Adrews.
At age 12, John was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He overcame many difficulties being bedridden at times, leg braces and wheelchair. As a child, he enjoyed being with his granddad at the farm. The family would get together for reunions in the summer at Dykeman Park and enjoyed spending holidays together.
He retired after 29 years at Essex, Hamilton Standard and White-Rodgers.
John was always smiling, he loved people. He enjoyed college and professional sports, especially NASCAR racing. His favorite driver was Jimmy Johnson. He loved harness racing and enjoyed visiting his favorite drivers at the track.
John was raised in the Lutheran Church and was strong in his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by cousins, Judy (Caldwell) Jett, Kay (Caldwell) Jantz, JoEllen (Caldwell) Tiscprmoa. Dean Nelson, and several extended family members, special friends, Horace and Linda Smith, and his neighbors and loving caregivers at Chase Center. Many churches, organizations and individuals who practice little kindnesses to those in nursing homes do not realize how much they are appreciated by folks like John. He would want this obituary to reflect his appreciation for making a difference in his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marietta M. Andrews.
A funeral service celebrating John’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 16 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Horace Smith officiating.

Entombment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
