Obituary for Orion Ray Abney

Orion Ray Abney, 75, of Boswell passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East.

Ray was born on June 3, 1943 in McClelland, Arkansas to the late Clarence Sr. and Minnie Taylor Abney.

He was a 1962 graduate of Lebanon High School.

On July 5, 1963 he was married to Anita Sue Saulmon in Lebanon, IN.

Ray worked for Ag Max in Frankfort for 15 years then retired. He then worked as a groom for Purdue Veterinary Teaching Hospital retiring after 15 years.

Ray was a member of Zion Chapel PCG of Lafayette and he was active in the Boswell Senior Center. Ray also sang in the group Young at Hearts and he enjoyed gardening.

Surviving is his wife, Anita Sue Abney of Boswell, his children, Lenora Brown of Boswell, Kevin (Brenda) Abney of Beverly, MA, Dawn (Thom) Wilson of Tampa, FL, Andrew (Julie) Abney of Round Lake Beach, IL, and a honorary daughter Misty (Brian) Sholty of Lafayette,his siblings, Clarence Jr. (Beatrice) Abney of Bald Knob, AR, Martha Harris of Crawfordsville, Narsie Abney of Crawfordsville, Joyce Buffington of Sneedsville, TN, and Diann Miller of Crawfordsville. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Ray is preceded in death by his sisters, Norma Halford, Grace Cox, and Katie Cox.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Trinity Chapel PCG, 4534 U.S. 52 Thorntown, IN with Rev. Larrry Williams and Rev. Thomas Branham officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Chapel or the Boswell Senior Center in memory of Ray.
