Obituary for William Raymond Cornell

William Raymond Cornell, 88, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

He was born on February 15, 1930 in Lafayette to the late William R. and Nora A. (Parker) Cornell.

William graduated from Dayton High School in the class of 1948.

He served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean War where he was stationed in Guam.

On February, 14, 1953, he married Betty Jean Smith in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2002.

William was a machinist for Alcoa for over 30 years.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and the American Legion Post 11.

William enjoyed working on cars, gunsmithing, and playing the Banjo. He was always working on a project.

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa Ann Berg of Lebanon and Lana Sue (Mark) Miller of Attica and his grandchildren, Clayton and Matthew Miller.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Snodgrass and Charlene Cornell.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10:30 Fisher Funeral Chapel with TJ Jenney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to LTHC to help homeless veterans in loving memory of William.
