Obituary for Sidney James Bixler

Sidney James Bixler, 75, of Logansport, passed away on May 28, 2018 at the St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo.

Born on August 6, 1942, in Mentone, he was the son of the late Chester and Louise (Walton) Bixler.

On May 29, 1971, in Logansport, he was married to Sandra (Odom) Bixler, who survives.

A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Sidney served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Sidney worked as a for LHS School Corporation for 17 years as a custodian and pool maintenance worker.

Sidney was a member of the Yorktown Church of Christ. He loved being outdoors.

Surviving with his wife of 47 years, are four daughters, Mary (Chad) Howard of Young America; and Debra (Mike) Roland, Cynthia (Brian) Coe and Denise (David) Hellyer, all of Logansprot; ; one brother, Louis (Fransis) Bixler of Logansport; and one sister, Jeanette (Bill) Stephenson of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, James LeRoy Bixler.

A Funeral Services celebrating Sidney's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Herb Derry Berry officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the opening of the service by the Cass County Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force.

Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday in the funeral chapel.
